An accident

Prashant yelled ‘Aabe kumbhkaran saale uuth jaa…first I will drop you at your bank and then go to my office’.

‘Ehh…what’s the time man?’ Anurag  asked.

"It is already 9 am and unlike you; my office doesn't allow to start my day at 1 pm. We work like typical human beings; not like nocturnal creatures. Tum saale khaoge idhar ki and gaaoge udhar ki. Kudos to such ‘brain drain’ organisations.

'Aabe stop cribbing. It’s ok. But dude, at least don’t abuse my Arnadaata’ (who pays one’s salary)

both laughed.

Prashant started wiping his bike with a piece of cloth. It’s not an unusual scene these days. This moron illustrates an eternal love for his brand new jet-black Honda CBR 250. However, after he was fully convinced that his bike looked superb; they set off for the bank.

‘Shit!’! A Tata Sumo was trying to overhaul from the left, resulting Prashant lost his balance and both of them fell down on the road. Fortunately both escaped unhurt… not even a single scratch on their body.

They saw that the sumo stopped ahead and one heavily built man emerged out of that. His appearance didn't match with an image of a driver, rather looked like a goon of a typical bolywood masala movie.

“Aare…giir gaye kya? Malum nai tum saab chhokra loog kaise gadi chalate ho. Abhi halla nai karne ka. Ye lo 100 rupiya, tumhare left indicator toot gayi hai, marhamaat kaarwa lena. Aab bhago yahan se.”  (Oh! You guys slipped off the track…don’t you know how to drive? C’mon…I can see your left indicator light has been broken. Now don’t make a show over here. Take this 100 bucks are repair that. Now get lost from here.)

The driver said and offered 100 bucks.

Prashant gave a momentary look to Anurag, then to his much adored bike.

‘Bang’…Without uttering a single word, he gave a tight slap to that man and said:

‘Now you take 100 bucks from me…aapni marham patti karwalena’.

Staying connected (Part-II)

A week later she was partying with her friends when they ran into Samar. Samar had always been her dream man. She had a huge crush on him when they were at collage but he never seemed to care about her; as if she didn't exist. Her friend introduced her to Samar and she was overjoyed. The two spoke for a few hours; and to her they seemed like magical moments. She was spellbound; the man of her dreams was with her and it seemed that he also liked her.

She laughed at his jokes and blushed as he flirted with her. After a few drinks he made a sleek remark "That was the happiest hour of my life". She eagerly exchanged numbers with him.

"I will give you a call", he said as they left the bar.

"Oh, he is totally into me ". She was ecstatic and called him BFF as soon as she got into a cab.

"Oh it was dazzling; we connected in an amazing way.  I think he would drop me a message in some time”. But then days passed and he didn't call. She checked her sms inbox like a fanatic. Ran to pick her cell phone every time it rang, only to find someone else called. She checked the network strength of her cell phone all the time, asking her girl pals to call her and check if her cell phone was working. Weeks pass but he does not call. She picked up the phone finally to call him.

"He has my number; surely he would pick my call"

The phone rang, and after a few rings, Samar rejected the call.
"He might be busy now" She thinks," Would surely call me back."

But he never called. A week later she saw Samar at a restaurant kissing a girl.
A strange pain set in her heart, as if her heart was being poked at with a knife.

N.B : While it's easy to get caught up in the pursuit of external validation, true happiness often begins within. When we cultivate self-love and acceptance, we become more discerning in our relationships and open ourselves to genuine connection. As Bob Marley wisely observed, "Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for."

While romantic stories often emphasize the fairytale ending of two souls perfectly aligned, lasting happiness can be found in the journey itself. By embracing our own individuality and finding contentment within ourselves, we create a solid foundation for authentic and fulfilling relationships. True love for a man often manifests in subtle ways. While he might not openly discuss his girlfriend with his friends, his happiness shines through when he's with her. He cherishes the connection they share, valuing her companionship and intellect beyond physical intimacy. Loyalty is a cornerstone of his character, and he fiercely protects his love for her, seeing her as the one truly special woman in his life.

While emotions might not always be outwardly expressed, a man deeply in love harbors profound feelings for his partner. She is his confidante, his rock, his everything. The sacrifices he makes for her are a testament to the depth of his commitment.

A man with purpose and direction knows what he wants in life, and often, that includes a loving and fulfilling relationship. He may not always understand the complexities of the female mind, but he strives to connect with the woman he loves on a deeper level, appreciating her unique qualities.

Staying connected (Part-I)

It was a sunny afternoon.

He was down with an unbearable lumbago. He had visited a physician in the morning, who injected an analgesic. Relief was short lived; a while later, the pain began to augment again.

Twik twik…it was her text.

“hey where r u? Today I don’t have any class n am free. Meet me”
He replied : “Sorry…my back hurts and can’t travel”
“Who told u to dance with my friends at the fresher’s eve…u should suffer...good for u”
“C’mon…r u nuts?”
“No am not…c if u can come down…but right now am missing u a lot; but u take rest…no need to come”
“Hang on! Am coming”
“No no…pls don’t come…”
“C u at 5 in CCD next to college”
“I luv u :) :)  :)”

A week into the semester. She was listening to music.
twik twik

“Hey am not feeling well…can we meet”
“No…am busy”
“Ok…u tk care”

Two more  days passed…

“Hey Hi…howz u”
“Busy…ttyl and stop texting me”
“Ok…u tk care”

He had a feeling something was amiss. He wanted to confront her, but brushed it off as being over possessive. Another  week passed, the pent up feeling was eating into him inside.

“Hi…Do u have some time? I need to meet u…not feeling good”
“hey am busy with preparing notes for exam; tmrw pakka”
“Ok…tc”

He texted next day…

“Hi”
“Hi…going to meet my Business Stats professor”
“Bye”

He was agitated. "Grabbing a diet coke might give some relief". He thought.
He entered the canteen and saw her there; laughing aloud with a group of her pals.
He stopped  and turned back before she could see him.

“My backache was better than this”…his heart cried out…

The tiger within

Once upon a time in a far off jungle lived a cub. Due to unknown circumstances, since early childhood, he got separated from his mother. However, he found shelter in the most unexpected places, and continued his life living with a herd of deer.

The deer treated that cub like family and it grew up believing it was a deer. He learned to bleat and eat grass, but without his staple diet of meat he atrophied; He barely looked like one of his own kind. It made the herd feel miserable. They tried their level best to nurture the malnourished baby tiger and eventually he got used to deer milk & grazing the land and had grown to become a strong young tiger.

One day, an old male tiger chanced upon the herd and the deer scattered. The young tiger remained rooted at his position. The big male was surprised to find a young tiger living with a herd of deer, and with curiosity he questioned the young tiger.

The young one’s reply was simply, “I am a deer!”

The old tiger got mortified and swatted him a couple of times.
He dragged the young tiger to a nearby pond and asked him to look at his own reflection.

The young tiger gave a chary in the direction of his so called family; the herd of deer. Well, they were quite far away. Probably they were all scared due to the presence of the old tiger.

He smiled at the old tiger.

The old one got exasperated and shouted;

“Huh! You idiot! Is this funny? What makes you laugh???”
Without any warning, the young tiger let out a blood chilling roar.

The old one was flabbergasted but quickly recovered from the shock to ask: I wanted to…
Young tiger: Hang on big bro! I know what is in your mind. But if you could please come closer, I would like to show you something.

The old tiger’s interest peaked and he came closer.

Young tiger: Can you see the herd of deer over there?

Old Tiger: O Yes.

Young Tiger: They sheltered and fed me when I was left to fend for myself. They treated me as one of their own and took care of me in the best way they could.

Old Tiger: So what? Forget the past. You have grown handsomely into an adult tiger. Let’s go and eat some of those scrawny fellas.

Young Tiger: That’s the fundamental difference between you and me. Life is not a chronological issue, but a psychosomatic one, in which we question the values and paradigms we are living by. I don’t have to look into that pond to understand what I am... I know what I am.

But can you see that cute doe standing on that rock? She looks gloomy and petrified.
You know why? She loves me and is worried since I am not back with the group.
I mean the world for her.

Old Tiger: Have you gone insane? Why are you screwing up your life for a mere doe and this bloody herd? Let me kill that doe first…

A slight growl escaped the young tiger…

Young Tiger: You will never appreciate.  But am warning you big bro…although I am on a vegetarian diet, I still have enough power to tear you and your ego apart.

Old Tiger: I don’t understand what you want to prove. What will you accomplish in this manner?

Young Tiger: its better that you mind your business and never ever look at this herd.

With another roar, the young tiger happily ran to the herd. The herd celebrated as they saw him coming back alive. His beloved rushed recklessly towards him and planted a kiss.

Both grinned.

N.B: At times situations larger than self-esteem that wants to come through, to demand realism in the way we live. But are we supposed to sail towards that foreseeable ending…that “certain exit” festooned with some stupid terms and condition?

Indeed life is not a chronological issue, but a psychosomatic one, in which we question the values and paradigms we are living by…

Wishes

Everyone wants an enchant life.

The voyage sets in motion with all the acumen, hard slog, fervour, dust & sweat,

timing; last but not the least, patience.

However, at times there is an emotional arousal.

All of a sudden he craves for some care…a little push…someone who can restore his perseverance with a smile.

All these rejuvenate and again he is back to business…striving for excellence.

Now he smirks as he knows that she has been his brainwave. He murmurs: “Thanks for being there”

Being a monkey...

The bus was choc-a-bloc. Though the a/c was on, one could still feel the heat of the scorching sun. All of a sudden a 2 year old child started crying at the top of his voice. It was really irritating. Many of the passengers tried their level best to appease that child in hopes of carrying on the remainder of the journey peacefully. Someone gave a chocolate; another started whistling and yet another guy actually mimicked a monkey. After all these herculean attempts, the child finally stopped crying. Probably he liked the monkey act.  Everyone took a deep breath and smiled.

25 years hence, that child has grown up handsomely into a man. He secured a job in a MNC, a hefty salary and a lavish lifestyle…almost every possible glee of life. Today, he wanted to cry aloud, to once again be that child 25 years ago. Alas, he couldn't.  However; tear drops trickled down his eyes. He was searching for a similar kind of crowd who pacified him in past. No one in sight…none turned up. He rushed to the washroom, and cried unabashed for some time. He felt a sense of calm and relief.

He said to himself…“Kudos, it was a nice monkey act.”

N.B. : Joy is a mystery because it can happen anywhere, anytime, even under the most unpromising circumstances, even in the midst of suffering, with tears in the eyes…
