It was a sunny afternoon.
He was down with an unbearable lumbago. He
had visited a physician in the morning, who injected an analgesic. Relief was
short lived; a while later, the pain began to augment again.
Twik twik…it was her text.
“hey where r u? Today I don’t have any class n am free. Meet
me”
He replied : “Sorry…my back hurts and can’t travel”
“Who told u to dance with my friends at the fresher’s eve…u
should suffer...good for u”
“C’mon…r u nuts?”
“No am not…c if u can come down…but right now am missing u a
lot; but u take rest…no need to come”
“Hang on! Am coming”
“No no…pls don’t come…”
“C u at 5 in CCD next to college”
“I luv u :) :) :)”
A week into the semester. She was listening to music.
twik twik
“Hey am not feeling well…can we meet”
“No…am busy”
“Ok…u tk care”
Two more days passed…
“Hey Hi…howz u”
“Busy…ttyl and stop texting me”
“Ok…u tk care”
He had a feeling something was amiss. He
wanted to confront her, but brushed it off as being over possessive. Another week passed, the pent up feeling was eating
into him inside.
“Hi…Do u have some time? I need to meet u…not feeling
good”
“hey am busy with preparing notes for exam; tmrw pakka”
“Ok…tc”
He texted next
day…
“Hi”
“Hi…going to meet my Business Stats professor”
“Bye”
He was agitated. "Grabbing a diet coke might give some relief". He thought.
He entered the canteen and saw her there;
laughing aloud with a group of her pals.
He stopped and turned back before she could see him.
“My backache was better than this”…his heart cried out…
